PromptAndTool is an independent AI tools directory and review site. We test tools, write honest assessments, and help you find what's actually worth using — without sponsored rankings or paid placements.
The AI tools landscape is genuinely overwhelming. New tools launch every week, pricing changes constantly, and most "best AI tools" lists are either months out of date or written by people who ran one prompt and called it a review.
We built PromptAndTool because we wanted the resource we couldn't find: an honest, regularly updated directory where every tool had been tested by someone who actually used it for real work — writing, coding, image generation, productivity, marketing. Not a checklist of features copied from a press release, but an assessment of whether the tool is worth your time and money.
We've been doing this since early 2024. The site now covers 50+ tools across every major AI category, with 60+ in-depth articles and a prompt library that we actually use in our own workflows.
Former software engineer who moved into AI research and writing. Has been testing AI tools systematically since GPT-3 — everything from the frontier models to the niche vertical tools most people haven't heard of. Writes most of the comparison pieces and tool reviews on the site. Based in Kuala Lumpur.

Our editorial independence is non-negotiable — if we started ranking tools based on commission rates, the site would stop being useful, which defeats the purpose.

We add new tools when they represent something meaningfully new — a different approach, a new category, or a genuinely better option in an existing category. We don't add tools just to hit a number.
